Annatto

... is an orange or red condiment and food colouring, derived from the seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa orellana).

Wikipedia tells us that American natives (North, Central and South) "originally used the seeds to make red body paint and lipstick. For this reason, the achiote is sometimes called the lipstick tree."

Wikipedia also tells us (on a different page) that "[annatto] is often used to impart a yellow or orange color to foods ... such as butter, cheese, sausages, cakes, and popcorn", so maybe "yellow" should also have been accepted as an answer.
